Present & future

Chennai Airport Terminals are under a redevelopment project which is expected to be concluded by 2021, when the terminals will be able to host 30 million passengers annually.

The outdated terminals will be demolished and a new integrated terminal building will be constructed, which will be located between the two existing terminals and will be the main international terminal (the other terminals will just serve domestic flights).

Transfer between terminals

Passengers may transfer between the International Terminals and the Domestic Terminal by a link building, which consists into a flyover travellator to joint both terminals.

Transportation is also done by golf carts. Frequency is of 10 - 20 minutes.

There is a plan to redevelop the moving walkway as a part of the second phase of the airport redevelopment.

It is also planned to connect the airport terminals with the metro and train station and also with the multi-level park, which is planned to be constructed in the upcoming years.

The distance between Terminals 1 & 3 to Terminal 4 is about 1 km.
